3 Upcoming Artists To Support In 2018

Step away from the bad energy
Only searching for good vibes
I was overlooking the generation of today
Assuming mumble rap was their musical taste
Mistaken, misguided and misrepresented
A lot on their minds, tapping into raw perspectives
View from the streets, a newfound storyteller
Exposing the truths of the game
Taking it back to the basics
Laying it all on a track
The pain, heartache and struggles
Healing through the music
Appreciation for the artistry
Focusing strictly on upcoming musicians
The reason I began blogging
To help the youth and spread a message

In the words of Joey Bada$$ (Big Dusty), if it doesn’t hit my spirit, I don’t get near it and that’s point blank period. An instrumental will peak interest but it won’t save the entire song. There needs to be more, a story to tell, clever punchlines or a beautiful hook. Turn the volume up, blast it from your Panasonic Multi-Room Speakers, stylish designs, crisp sound and multi-purpose. As I introduce three upcoming artists that deserve to be recognised, go beyond the instrumental, truly listen to the lyrics.

Chris Amor (UK)
Live and direct from my inbox, introducing the punchline therapist. Instantly hooked with that old school feel, revealing his stories, experiences and opinions with a smooth style. Bop your head to Lanes as Chris Amor speaks about his reality, how to play the game and the mentality he holds. He seems to have mastered his sound but there is always room for improvement. To say the least, I’m impressed; it reminds me to never overlook upcoming artists, they possess the rawest of talent. Humble in his current position, has the courage to dream, support the journey for a talented musician. I’m excited to see what’s next.

Money Marcus (USA)
Found the kid on Twitter through a freestyle; he wasn’t flexing like many others in this generation, the realness caught my eye. A calming instrumental with a meaningful message to his siblings on Brother’s Keeper. Just a call away, the listening ear, the helping hand. The bond, love and loyalty can be heard from a mile. Money Marcus has a role to play, a purpose in life, speaking the truth of many in society. The lyrics mixed with the melody touches the heart, the strength of being a family is beautiful, something I look up to. He has a message to share that many can resonate with, I’m looking forward to the next story he decides to tell.

Starrlight (Netherlands)
Representing for the females, creating the purest form of hip-hop, demanding my attention, she’s here to make a difference. Breaking out of the box, she has a refreshing sound, unique to the ear with a message to share each time. Once you hear one song you can’t help but continue to listen to her body of work and be impressed. Forget the modern sounds of Nicki Minaj and Cardi B for a minute, open your mind to the nostalgic sounds of the past. Stop rocking with the average, go beyond the surface, let the truth manifest. Starrlight deserves a chance, heart on her sleeve, giving it her all. I’m excited about her next release, touching the spirit with beautiful words.

They’ve all mastered their style, making noise for the right reason, using their voices as a weapon to spread a message that needs to be heard. All you have to do is look beyond, dig deeper and understand their music. Healing through the vibrations, sharing their stories, resonating with the listeners, they fit the description of winners. There are many ways to support upcoming artists. Buy their music, share it on social media – a simple retweet can go a long way, word of mouth and everything in between, get creative with it.

What artists have you been listening to lately?

Until next time, stay fabulous,
