The Future Is Female

The Future Is Female Poetry

A young female
That can never be defined
On the journey of life
Discovering her body
With many surprises laid before her
The struggle is real
And near to her heart
She has enough on her plate
Without the added pressures of society
Laws changing (not in her favour)
Taxed for the gift of mother nature
A monthly occurrence
With side effects of
Discomfort, mood swings and bloating
How would you feel in that situation?
Women get treated unfairly
Sexualised, objectified and marginalised
Labelled as bitches and hoes
Yet we play a part in that injustice
The culture developed that behaviour
Mainstream music
Videos of half-naked women
Twerking or merely in the background
If we didn’t accept these roles
They would be non-existent
Pornstars video extras
Just to name a few
Decreasing our values
When in actuality,
We’re warriors and poets
Symbolising strength
We handle our business
When others would collapse
A desire to continue
Burning deep within us
It allows us to conquer not only survive
Yet we’re pitted against one another
That we can’t challenge the problem at hand
Who gave you the authority to dictate over us?
We will never back down
No chance of stopping
Working hard for the vision
Expressing ourselves through art
Raised to speak out and stand up
We shall not be silenced
Though one person cannot change the world
But they can educate and begin a revolution
Women should be allowed
To be various things
Not just a choice between being serious or a slut
The binary is highly misogynistic
We teach girls they cannot to be sexual beings
In the way that boys are
As the power they hold
The messages they spread
The change they create
It will all disappear
Due to an act of sexual creativity
There was and still is a taboo surrounding
Provocative photo shoots
Emma Watson gets critiqued regularly
Why must she defend herself?
Can she not be a respected woman?
And a sexual being?
That’s the question I pose to you
We’re continually growing
Discovering new aspects of ourselves
Holding responsibilities
Yet get undermined
With the stereotypes, discrimination and prejudice
You’ll get dismissed
The message is clear
It’s me, myself and I at the end
The decisions are mine
Matters of the body
Wait, rephrase
My body
No-one can interfere
We don’t experience the same struggle
How can you speak for me?
When you’re unaware of the full issue
I came to win
To reclaim
Is that clear enough?
It’s my body, not yours
Was that bold enough?
A pussy grabs back

How do women inspire you?

Until next time, stay fabulous,
